Assateague Bunny Hop - A Celebration of SpringApril 12, 20141 p.m. – 2 p.m.Hop down the bunny trail at Assateague State Park! “BYOB” - Bring Your Own Basket and a keen eye as you search for eggs hidden at the Rackliffe Plantation House located across the street from the state park marina. Egg hunts will begin at 1:15 pm, groups will include Tiny Tots, Little Tykes, and Bunny Hoppers (grouped by age) with plenty of goodies for all to find. If you are feeling lucky, try our raffles and guessing game with drawings held at the end of the event. Co-sponsored by Friends of Assateague State Park. March of Dimes WalkAmerica - AssateagueMay 3, 201410 a.m.Assateague State Park serves as host for the annual March of Dimes Walk for Babies. You can help save babies from being born premature by joining the millions of people across the nation who come together for Walk for Babies each year. AMSA Fishing DerbyJune 14, 201410 a.m. – 1 p.m.Assateague State Park and Assateague Mobile Sport Fisherman’s Association (AMSA) will be co-sponsoring a fishing derby for kids 16 and under. Members from AMSA will be on hand to instruct participants in proper fishing methods for the surf. Surf rescue demonstrations and nature exhibits will also be on display. Lunch will be provided by AMSA. Limited equipment is available; please bring personal equipment if possible. Registration is at Assateague State Park Day Use boardwalk, no pre-registration required. Movie Under the StarsWednesdays starting June 18th through August 27, 2014 8:30 p.m.Join us out under the stars on the beach behind the Nature Center for a viewing of G-rated family or nature-themed movies. Check our weekly program schedule for this week's feature. Please bring a chair or blanket and your favorite snack and beverage. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Program free to State Park campers; all others program service charge of $4 per vehicle; check-in at State Park Ranger Station office. All ages welcome.
Campground Critter EncounterThursdays and Saturdays starting June 26th, 2014Programs available between 4-7 p.m.Would you like to invite some special guests to your campsite? Our Campground Critter Encounter lets you enjoy an up-close visit with some of our Scales & Tales animals - and the best part is we bring the program to you! Gather your friends and family right at your home away from home and we’ll bring a group of feathered and scaled friends to meet you. You’ll learn about how these animals survive on and around Assateague Island and how you can help to protect wild animals. We’ll even have time for a photo-shoot with you and your new friends! Service charge applies. Program is for groups up to 20 participants and is 30 minutes in length.
